- Whyte dropped Povetkin in round 4. Povetkin beat the count but referee Victor Loughlin, seeing Povetkin was wobbly, stopped the bout. Povetkin's corner was in agreement, having thrown in the towel.

- Alvarez and Saunders fought before a crowd of 73,126, the largest ever to attend an indoor boxing match.
- Saunders suffered swelling under his right eye after getting hit by a devastating uppercut. By the time Saunders was able to sit down between the eighth and ninth rounds, the swelling prevented him from seeing with his right eye.
- On Sunday, May 9, Saunders' promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted that Saunders had "suffered multiple fractures to orbital area and will undergo surgery this afternoon."
