- Going into the 11th round, the scores were 96-94 for Alvarez, 96-94 for Alvarez, and 95-95.
- Alvarez ended the bout with a left hook followed by an explosive right. Kovalev fell into the ropes then down to his knees. Seeing Kovalev was in no condition to continue, referee Russell Mora immediately waved it off without issuing a count.
