- Boyeaux, a former French bantamweight champion who is considered the "World Bantamweight Champion in Recess" by the Argentina-based World Pugilism Commission, was unbeaten in his last 32 bouts (31 wins, 1 No Decision).
- Inoue floored Boyeaux in the first round then proceeded to drop him three more times with body shots before the bout was stopped.
- This was Boyeaux's 47th bout as a professional and the first in which he was stopped.

- Kimura became the first fighter to stop Igarashi when his his ninth round barrage convinced referee Katsuhiko Nakamura to save the former lineal, WBC, and Ring Magazine World flyweight champion from additional punishment.
