James Toney never proved that he could become one of the best heavyweights of his era. He never was a real contender in this division by any stretch.

But he did show that even good, natural heavyweights, who had experience at the highest level, could not stop Toney or even hurt him. In fact, Toney frustrated them and they didn't always look good beating him.

To me, this is a testament to the greatness of Toney. This is quite a feat for a man who started at middleweight.

118-110 Toney

1st round even. 5th and 10th rounds for Peter.

The rest go to Toney in my view with Peter losing a point in the 9th.

I had just about the exact opposite score for the rematch.

Never forgot this one. I watched this with a buddy who scored fights too. We didnt tell each other what our running scores were. I had it 116 to 112 toney. He had it 115 to 113 Peter. I thought he was nuts... then they announced the decision.
