Evgeny Romanov (19-1, 12 KOs)
- Romanov, who has been competing both as a bridgerweight and and a heavyweight, unanimously outpointed Dmitry Kudryashov over 12 rounds in a WBC bridgerweight eliminator on May 21, 2021. By beating Kudryashov, Romanov also won the then vacant WBC Silver bridgerweight title, a title he never defended.
- Zhang, the current WBA Asia cruiserweight champion, unsuccessfully challenged for the WBA World cruiserweight title on July 17, 2021, losing to then WBA champion Ryad Merhy by TKO-8.
- The Romanov-Zhang bout was a WBA World bridgerweight title eliminator. Both fighters weighed in at 221.
- Romanov dropped Zhang near the end of the first round and had Zhang on the verge of being stopped in round 2. While Romanov was attempting the finish Zhang, he (Romanov) got caught by a massive, "desperation" left hook. Zhang followed with a brain-rattling right which dropped Romanov for the count of nine. When Romanov rose, the referee saw that the 38-year-old Russian was in no condition to continue and wisely stopped the bout.
- This was a huge upset win for the 28-year-old Zhang.

- Romanov, who has been competing both as a bridgerweight and and a heavyweight, unanimously outpointed Dmitry Kudryashov over 12 rounds in a WBC bridgerweight eliminator on May 21, 2021. By beating Kudryashov, Romanov also won the then vacant WBC Silver bridgerweight title, a title he never defended.
- Zhang, the current WBA Asia cruiserweight champion, unsuccessfully challenged for the WBA World cruiserweight title on July 17, 2021, losing to then WBA champion Ryad Merhy by TKO-8.
- The Romanov-Zhang bout was a WBA World bridgerweight title eliminator. Both fighters weighed in at 221.
- Romanov dropped Zhang near the end of the first round and had Zhang on the verge of being stopped in round 2. While Romanov was attempting the finish Zhang, he (Romanov) got caught by a massive, "desperation" left hook. Zhang followed with a brain-rattling right which dropped Romanov for the count of nine. When Romanov rose, the referee saw that the 38-year-old Russian was in no condition to continue and wisely stopped the bout.
- This was a huge upset win for the 28-year-old Zhang.

Junior Welterweight Bout-
