- Suarez' WBA Asia and Philippines Games & Amusements Board super featherweight titles and his IBF Asia junior lightweight title as well as Fleming's IBF Pan Pacific junior lightweight title were not on the line.
- Suarez controlled the early rounds. Fleming took over during the middle rounds and was leading by the scores of 106-103, 107-102, and 108-101 going into the 12th frame.
- Suarez regained control in the final round and floored Fleming with a blistering left hook. Fleming beat the count but once action resumed, Suarez continued pummeling him until referee Pat O'Connor humanely called a halt to the contest.
