- Garcia came into the bout having lost his previous three fights (UD 8 to David Light- 8/31/19; Unan. Tech. Dec. 8 to Geovany Bruzon- 4/3/21; and TKO-2 to Ryan Rozicki- 3/19/22).
- Zhang was cut by an accidental clash of heads. The ringside physician examined the cut and pronounced Zhang fit to continue. Zhang refused to do so. Referee Floyd Porter then declared Garcia the winner.
