- This bout was contested for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific junior welterweight title and the vacant Japanese super lightweight title.
- The WBO Asia Pacific title was last held by Koki Inoue (15-1, 12 KOs). It was declared vacant after Inoue lost to Daishi Nagata (now 15-3-2, 6 KOs) in a bout for Nagata's Japanese title. Nagata made one more successful defense of the Japanese title, keeping the it via a technical draw with Akihiro Kondo. (Kondo is now 32-1-2, 18 KOs having since lost to Cristano Aoqui- 16-8-2, 11 KOs). In his next defense, Nagata lost to Masahiro Suzuki (6-0, 4 KOs).
- The Japanese title became vacant when Suzuki voluntarily relinquished it to campaign as a lightweight.
- Hiraoka weighed in at 139 3/4. Sasaki failed to make weight, tipping the scale at 144. As a result, the vacant titles were available to Hiraoka only.
- Hiraoka decked Sasaki three times- twice in round 7 and once in round 11.

Bantamweight Bout-
Keita Kurihara (16-6, 14 KOs)

- This bout was contested for Nakajima's OPBF title.
- Kurihara had lost the OBF diadem to Takuma Inoue (currently The Ring #6, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #7, TTR #9- all at 118; 14-1, 3KOs) this past January. Inoue later vacated the title to campaign as a super bantamweight. Nakajima won the vacant title by outpointing Kai Chiba (13-2, 8 KOs) in May.
- This was Kurihara's first bout since losing to Inoue.
- After Nakajima and Kurihara split two competitive rounds with Nakajima winning the first and Kurihara taking the second, Kurihara ended matters by dropping Nakajima twice in round 3.
