BOUTS FEATURING FIGHTERS NOT CURRENTLY RANKED BY TTR WHICH MAY IMPACT TTR'S RANKINGS:

- Fukunaga continued to be the aggressor in round six and in round seven, floored Saludar with another body shot. Saludar beat the count but was met was a fusillade of punches when action resumed. When is Transnational going to remove Mikey as 140 champ? He's about to have his 3rd straight fight at a different weight and hasn't fought there in 2 years. I have not seen any other set of rankings with him as the top guy at 140 and for obvious reason. Do you guys agree as a group on Mikey's ranking, or does Springs Toledo decide on his own?

The rankings are good overall, but some pretty bizarre and seemingly idiosyncratic cases pop up (another was Nathaniel Gallimore as 4th in the world) that it makes me think someone has disproportionate influence in the ranking process.

The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board does not strip champions of titles. For us to remove title recognition from Garcia, we would require an announced permanent move to another division, retirement, or, since he has not defended the title for over 18 months, a bout between the #1 and #2 ranked contenders to crown a rightful successor.

The TBRB is not the only group to list Garcia the reigning junior welterweight champ. The International Boxing Research Organization-affilliated Cyber Boxing Zone still recognizes him as the lineal world junior welterweight champion.

TTR however lists the title as vacant.

This is his third straight fight outside of 140, at what point would you accept he's moved out of the division? Would 4 straight fights and 3 years out be enough? Are the Cyber Boxing people on the Transnational panel or do they adhere to the Transnational rankings by any chance?

TTR and pretty much every other set of rankings I've seen. I fine it a very questionable ranking--first to award it to Mikey for beating Lipinets and then to still have him there when he's barely in any discussions about the division at this point--it's about Taylor, Ramirez, and Prograis. Even Mo Hooker is more relevant at 140.

You're preaching to the choir. As I stated, TTR does not recognize Garcia. As for the TBRB, Garcia and Lipinets were ranked #1 and #2 respectively at the time they fought the title which had been previously held and officially relinquished by Terence Crawford.

The following is from the TBRB charter:

6. The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board Championship Policy
I. When a champion retires or abdicates, the first-ranked contender must fight the second-ranked contender to become champion. Lesser contenders do not constitute the best, and the fact that they are allowed to compete for open championships by other organizations does not make them so. The gravitas of the true championship will be vitiated no longer. Therefore, no allowances for third, fourth, and fifth-ranked contenders will be made.

II. If, under such circumstances, the first two ranked contenders prove unwilling to fight, the Board will force the issue as much as it deems appropriate.

III. If a champion is inactive in his division, attempts will be made to contact the champion/designee for an official announcement or clarification of his intentions. If none is forthcoming and the champion has not defended his throne after 18 months, and the first- and second-ranked contenders meet, then the official winner may become the rightful successor.

As for any relationship between the CBZ and the TBRB, while there are TBRB members who are also members of the IBRO, there is only one TBRB member, Harry Otty, who is connected to the CBZ. He is one of the CBZ's staff historians. None of the other influential members of the CBZ including Michael DeLisa, Stephen Gordon, Tracy Callis, Dan Cuocco, Juan C. Ayllon, and JD Vena, are members of the TBRB.
