NEW RANKINGS- NEW SYSTEM

It is time for us to update our board's rankings.

Instead of voting in a poll where you're limited to entering just one choice per division, you can vote for up to 10 fighters per division. At the end of the voting period, all votes of all members who participate will be tallied. The points assigned will be as follows: if you vote for a fighter as #1 in his division, he receives 10 points, #2 receives 9 points, #3 8 points, etc.

I've listed, in alphabetical order, the champions, the interim champions, and about 15 to 20 (or so) contenders per division - a separate thread for each division. You are not restricted to voting for those I listed but please only vote for a fighter in one division. For instance, Sugar Shane Mosley is ranked in more than one division by the sanctioning bodies. The WBC and the WBO rate him as a welterweight while the WBA and the IBF rate him at 154. For our current rankings, he'll be listed at 147. Sam Soliman will be ranked at 168 not 160; Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai at 135 not 130 or 140, Koki Kameda at 112 not 108, etc.

Please enter your votes in this format:

1. Joe Smith
2. John Jones
3. Igor Khrushchev
4. Fred Flintstone, Jr.
etc.

Thanks.

Also, if any point during the voting you want to change your vote (changed your mind and/or you want your vote to reflect the result of a fight that took place after you first voted, feel free to go back and edit it.

In fact, after voting for a given period is closed, you do not have to enter in your picks in their entirety for the next period. Just edit your original picks to reflect your new appraisal. If your top ten for a given division is the same as the previous month, just hit "edit", then hit "submit" without making any changes.

5/27/07 edit:

1. Sam Soliman, mentioned above, has returned to the middleweight division after an unsuccessful attempt to win the WBA super middleweight title.

2. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is an exception to the "one fighter-one division" rule only because he currently holds both the WBC welterweight and WBC super welterweight world titles. Once he vacates one of those belts, he'll go back to being ranked in just one weight class. (He claims to be "retired" but the WBC still views him as an active fighter.)

3. If, after 90 days, you have not updated your ratings, your entry (entries) will be deleted.

4/2/12 edit:

Please try and avoid, or at least limit, non-top ten list posts. Comments regarding another poster's rankings can be made in the general section. Comments made here will be left for 30 days then deleted. I would prefer not to have to weed through a lot of extra posts when compiling TTR's rankings every two weeks. I also don't want to mistakenly include a list that has been quoted a second time or overlook a top ten list because of a cluttered thread. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

what if we cant do a list of ten? Honestly I doubt if many guys on the board will have seen enough of some of the less publicised or foreign fighters so its kind of hard to make an educated list. what do you do if you are sure of your top five but dont know the rest? would it fuck up your system? just not sure what to do with it all.

If you are comfortable just rating 3 fighters, 5 fighters or 8 fighters, etc., in a given division, that's fine. The #1 ranked fighter still gets 10 points, the #3 ranked fighter gets 8 points, the #5 ranked fighter gets 6 points, the #8 fighter gets 3 points.
