1988- Lloyd Honeyghan recovers the WBC world Welterweight championship with a third round knockout of Jorge Vaca in their rematch at London. After loosing his title to Jorge Vaca in 1987 when a clash of heads meant that the fight had to be stopped due to a cut sustained by Vaca. The scorecards at the time of the stoppage favoured Vaca.
Honeyghan became only the second British boxer in history to regain a world title when he knocked Vaca out in a return fight, the first being Ted "Kid" Lewis earlier in the 20th century.
1980- Matthew Saad Muhammad KO 4 John Conteh, Atlantic City. Retains WBC Light Heavyweight Title. The two previously met in August of 79 with Muhammad retaining the world title with a 15 round decision. The decision, however, was unpopular and an immediate rematch was ordered, so they met again, this time Saad Muhammad retaining the crown with a knockout
1994- Miguel Angel Gonzalez KO 5 Jean Baptiste Mendy, Paris. Retains WBC Lightweight Title.
1997- Michael Moorer W 12 Vaughn Bean, Las Vegas. Retains IBF Heavyweight Title. It was later said that this poor excuse for a “fight” could’ve put an amphetamine junky to sleep.
1997- Julio Cesar Chavez W 10 Tony Martin, Las Vegas.
1997- Ricardo Lopez W 12 Mongkol Chareon, Las Vegas. Retains WBC Strawweight Title.
2008- 2008: Arthur Abraham KO 12 Elvin Ayala, Kiel, Germany. Retains IBF Middleweight Title. After connecting late in the fight with a devastating left hook Abraham sent his opponent crashing to the canvas face first. This was Abraham's 7th successful title defence.
