Jim Lampley wrote:Floyd Jr. talks about pound-for-pound, the pound-for-pound race centers around Shane Mosley, Felix Trinidad, Roy Jones. Is Floyd on that level now?
George Foreman wrote:There's a guy by the name of Page in the boxing ring until they beat him in that 147 class nobody's pound-for-pound until they fight Page.

NOTE: In 1989, The Ring ceased publishing for a number of months. When it resumed publishing under new owners, its policy towards Ring championships changed. The new owners and editorial staff decided not to recognize their own champions. They simply ranked the top ten fighters in each division and noted the fighters' organizational world titles.

After undergoing another change in ownership, The Ring resumed recognizing its own champions in 2001-2002. However, the new editorial staff did not trace the lineage of the titles back to when The Ring ceased recognizing their own champions but started "fresh", ignoring over a decade's worth of history. (That's why in some divisions, The Ring champion and the actual lineal champion have not always been the same. There have also been times when The Ring has considered a title vacant when there actually was a legitimate champion and visa versa, when The Ring has recognized a champion when the title should have been considered vacant.)
