Re: ShoBox: 2/25/2023 Matias vs Ponce
Ponce showed a lot of class after the fight - want to see both of these fighters again. As you said, Gil, Ponce was worn down and his corner had to have seen something I didn't. I was surprised at the stoppage. This definitely wasn't a chess match - it was the type of fight Chef would always say he ...

Re: Happy Heavenly Birthday Mr Kevin Sinclair
I miss Rasta tremendously.
His passion - his empathy - his good-natured way of raising up issues and debating different boxing topics.
I didn't get to meet him, and yet I felt like he sat next to me on some fight nights laughing and cheering. Tremendous guy.

This dude is literally one of my favorite movie gangsters.
HIs performance in Goodfellas was as good as anyone, but you see Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro really getting the attention - even over Ray Liotta. Watching his expressions and how he just became that part, though - again, one of my faves.

Re: Fights You Wish Happened At A Different Time Or Weight
RJJ and B-Hop, but also RJJ vs Tarver. I think Roy smokes Tarver earlier in his career. Floyd vs JMM at 135 is a much better fight. Evander Holyfield versus pre-prison Tyson. I still think Holy wins that one. RJJ vs Calzaghe at 168 - heard Roy considered it and then declined because of the move down...

Re: How do we revive this site
Stray, I feel you - I wish I could say that I kept up the work that I had done prior to the pandemic during the pandemic. A bit before, a few things in my life went sideways and I let stress get to me - and then got really inactive during the pandmic. I haven't picked up to my same activity level si...

I watch it. I don't feel the same in terms of connections to the characters as SOA, but a few things this season did get me to care more about a few of the characters. And some of the actions of a couple of the characters... whew... this has been a good season in terms of continuity and character de...

Re: How do we revive this site
For years now, I have posted off and on. I like chatting live during fights in the living room more than I do posting in the forums, but it's because I don't have a lot of time to think through what I am going to post. I have found that when I try to post quickly, it doesn't quite come out like I me...

Skilled, fast, and super flawed.
That did, admittedly, make him a fun fighter to watch. I just didn't like how he would talk so much and couldn't back it.

Re: What's next for GGG?
That is a good decision for Canelo. I think that he will beat GGG and both will make a good deal of money from the fight... probably more than any other offering. After that fight, we can see if GGG has something that would give him the desire to fight Charlo (assuming Charlo is still there - one of...

Re: What's next for GGG?
GGG is 40 and is not Bernard Hopkins. I am not knocking his skills, but whatever he does needs to be done pretty fast. I don't know that he looks as he did when he was 35 at this point - not quite as fast and not nearly as feared as he was. He will give someone a good fight, and I think it just make...

Re: Any interest in heavyweight?
Going by comments here there is anticipated impact from other fighters up and coming. That coupled with little excitement with potential matchups for Usyk, Princess AJ, or Fury the feeling is not having a flasher like Wilder in the mix that things could get boring for the heavies again. Kind of. Bu...

Re: Any interest in heavyweight?
Was your interest in the division mostly about Wilder, if you're off it now because he lost? Interesting question... but no. I was interested in seeing Wilder tested before a few people stepped up, as I thought his technical deficiencies made him an interesting and flawed champion that could be bea...

Re: Any interest in heavyweight?
I should be interested in Usyk vs Fury - not sure why that doesn't excite me, but currently it doesn't. Again, appreciate you putting names out there, Marc. I am curious when the next 'big' heavyweight clash happens. The first and second Wilder/Fury were big events - AJ/Fury should have been a huge ...

Any interest in heavyweight?
Now that Fury has definitively beaten Wilder and Deontay is pondering his future with 'assistance', do you have any interest in heavyweight boxing? All of who I see in the rankings is 30+, so where is that younger generation? Where is the sensation that is knocking everybody out or else the flashy g...

Man… I… I just don’t care They’ll probably look like geriatric versions of their prime selves in their. I’ll pass and watch the highlight of one of them getting knocked out when it’s all over with. I'm with you here. I cared once upon a time, because I wanted to see Khan get knocked out. I have see...

Re: CRAWFORD stopped PORTER
Agree with Stray that I thought Crawford would outlast Porter, but I honestly wasn't sure that it was going to be as competitive. What I see Cagiva saying is that he can kinda sympathize with Kenny Porter's actions - and I can understand why the stoppage. I agree that you can tell when a fighter is ...

Not much that I can say that others didn't. Kenny Porter just... why? I can understand the stoppage. but I am struggling to understand what you said afterwards. Good effort for Porter and he doesn't need to be done, in my opinion. That said, he takes some brutal shots with his style and he gives as ...

Re: Jamel Herring VS Shakur Stevenson in Atlanta •Live@7:30pm•
Showcase for Shakur... I respect that performance a lot. He was patient, mixed up his offense, and showed lots of physical skills that will have him at or near the top for a while. Herring didn't do himself any favors, but Shakur would have been too much no matter what he did.

Re: FURY & WILDER Trade KDs in a KTFO Barn Burner!!!
You are probably right, Marc.
Wilder didn't look right for most of the fight - but the way he was throwing made it hard to see where to stop it. The stoppage was good... could have stopped it on the previous knockdown.

Re: FURY vs WILDER III •MAIN EVENT ABOUT TO START•
That was quite a fight. To look at Wilder's legs, you would have thought that it was one-sided the whole way - and yet, Wilder was always there. Good performance by Fury most of the way through, but overshadowed to me by how much punishment that Wilder took before going down. Fury adjusted some, beg...
