TTR RANKED FIGHTERS IN ACTION- March 6 & 7- Darchinyan, Alexander, Braithwaite, and Ohba Win

During the last 24 hours or so, 5 fighters currently ranked by TTR's members saw action with four scoring victories.



3/6- Rancho Mirage, California, USA- TTR #2 ranked super flyweight Vic Darchinyan retained the WBC title and the WBA super title with a 12-round, unanimous decision over game but outgunned, iron-chinned challenger Rodrigo Guerrero. The scores were 117-111, 118-110, and 120-108. Darchinyan, interested in either a rematch against now WBA interim super flyweight champion Nonito Donaire, TTR's #1 ranked 115-pounder, or another shot a bantamweight title, improved to 34-2-1 with 27 KOs. Guerrero, not ranked by TTR but ranked #12 by the WBA and #15 by the WBC, dropped to 13-2-1 with 9 KOs. He owns wins over Alberto Rosas, now the IBF's #1 ranked junior bantamweight contender, and three-time world title challenger Luis Maldonado.



3/6- Uncasville, Connecticut, USA- In a bout to unify the WBC super lightweight and IBF junior welterweight titles, TTR #3 ranked Devon Alexander, the defending WBC champion, floored TTR #7 ranked, Juan Urango, the defending IBF champion, twice in the eighth round, forcing referee Benjie Esteves to halt the contest. The time was 1:12 of the eighth. Alexander upped his record to 20-0 with 13 KOs while Urango, whose second reign as the IBF titlist ended after one successful defense, fell to 22-3-1 with 17 KOs.

3/6- Uncasville, Connecticut, USA- On the undercard of the Alexander-Urango title unifier, TTR #16 ranked cruiserweight Wayne Braithwaite knocked out TTR unranked Adam Harris at 2:59 of the first round. The former WBC champion climbed to 24-4 with his 20th victory by knockout while the overmatched Harris, now 10-3 with 7 KOs, lost for the third straight time.

3/7- Nagoya, Aichi, Japan- TTR #11 ranked bantamweight Kohei Ohba was awarded a unanimous decision over Philippines Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Eric Barcelona after a non-title, 10-rounder. The unbeaten Ohba, ranked #3 by the WBC and #9 by the WBA, improved to 27-0-1 with 11 KOs. Barcelona, not ranked by TTR but listed at #35 as a super bantamweight by the WBC, slipped to 51-17-4 with 19 KOs. Ohba will next challenge OPBF bantamweight champion Malcolm Tunacao on July 11. He and the former lineal and WBC flyweight champion have fought once before. That bout, held on February 5, 2006, saw Tunacao retain the OPBF belt with a 12-round draw.
