Drugs ban for Chavez Junior

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who tested positive for a diuretic in his system in his pre fight drug test from his bout against Troy Rowland last November 14th at the MGM in Las Vegas, appeared in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Although the medication was prescribed by his doctor he still took responsibility for taking the illegal drug. The commission suspended Chavez for 7 months and fined him $10,000. The suspension was retrospective back to November 14, 2009.

The 47-year-old former Cruiserweight and Heavyweight World champion Evander Holyfield was granted a one fight boxing license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday. The decision opens the door for Evander to face 41-year-old WBF champ Frans Botha on April 17 at the Orleans Hotel & Casino.
