Oi Defends the Italian Light Welterweight Title Friday

On Friday, 35 year old Italian light welterweight champion Vittorio "The Time Machine" Oi (13-1-1, 3 KOs) will be defending his title in his home town against young Samuele Esposito (4-1, 3 KOs).



Oi is a former IBF Mediterranean super lightweight title holder. He won that title on February 7th 2009 with a 12 round split decision over Frenchman Frederic Tripp (25-15, 8 KOs) He also won the vacant Italian light welterweight title in his last fight by scoring 10 round unanimous decision over Alfredo Di Feto (17-7-1, 8 KOs).

Esposito was a 3 time regional champion in the amateur ranks. His fight Friday against Oi will be a huge step up in competition. Esposito declared to the local press he intends to use his superior skills to compensate for Oi's advantage in experience.



On the undercard, undefeated Italian welterweight Daniele Petrucci (24-0-1, 9 KOs) will face the former Nicaraguan super featherweight champion Ronny McField (13-4-2, 1 ND, 10 KOs). Petrucci is the former IBF Youth, EBU European Union, World Boxing Foundation Intercontinental, and Italian welterweight champion.

Also on this card, 2 other undefeated Italian prospects will be featured: light welterweight Federico "Bad Boy" Ranalli (2-0, 2 KOs) and welterweight Luigi Leonardi (2-0, 1 KO).
