TTR RANKED FIGHTERS IN ACTION- January 14 through January 16

Four boxers ranked by TTR's membership saw action during the three day period of January 14 through January 16. All four, Milan Melindo, Panomroonglek Kratingdaenggym, Marco Antonio Rubio, and Vanes Martirosyan, emerged victorious.



1/14- Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines- TTR #8 ranked minimumweight Milan Melindo of the Philippines won the WBC Youth Intercontinental flyweight title with a 10-round, unanimous decision over defending champion Anthony Villarreal of Perris, California. The scores were 97-93, 96-93, and 95-94. Melindo, ranked by all four major sanctioning bodies as a top ten contender at 105 pounds- #1 by the WBO, #2 by the WBA, #3 by the IBF, and #7 by the WBC, upped his record to 20-0 with 5 KOs. The TTR unranked Villarreal slipped to 9-3 with 4 KOs. The bout was fought with a contractually agreed upon limit of 110 pounds. The 21-year-old Melindo weighed in at 109 while Villarreal, 22, tipped the scales at 109 1/2.



1/15- Paisalee, Nakhon Sawan,Thailand- TTR #11 ranked flyweight Panomroonglek Kratingdaenggym (AKA Ponomrunglek Kratingdaeng) scored a second round knockout over TTR unranked Ego Yohan of Indonesia. Panomrooonglek, who is currently the WBC's #1 contender at 112 pounds, raised his record to 28-0 with 15 KOs.



1/16- Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico- TTR #18 ranked middleweight Marco Antonio Rubio, currently ranked #5 by the WBC, stopped TTR unranked Rigoberto Alvarez, the WBC's #8 ranked middleweight contender, at 1:32 of the 9th round to retain theWBC Latino title. The bout was also contested as a WBC middleweight title eliminator. With the win, Rubio improved to 45-5-1 with 39 KOs. Alvarez dropped to 23-2 with 17 KOs.



1/16- Las Vegas, Nevada- TTR #11 ranked super welterweight Vanes Martirosyan retained the NABF and WBO NABO titles with a 10-round, unanimous decision over TTR unranked former IBF junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma. The scores were 97-92, 97-93, and 97-93. TTR had it 95-94 for Ouma. Martirosyan, currently ranked #5 by the WBO, #7 by the WBC, #7 by the IBF, and #13 by the WBA, is now 27-0 with 17 KOs. The unlucky Ouma, who scored a flash knockdown in the 9th round, slipped to 26-7-1 with 1 No Decision and 16 KOs.
