On Saturday, June 16, Mexico hosted two bouts featuring fighters not currently ranked by TTR which may impact TTR's rankings at some time in the future. Jose Zepeda knocked out previously unbeaten Carlos "Chuko" Diaz in Mexicali while in Gomez Palacio, Wilfredo Vazquez. Jr. violently ended the career of 70-bout veteran Cristian Mijares.

Jose "Chon" Zepeda (WBO #6, WBC #20- both at 140; 29-1, 1 NC, 24 KOs)

Carlos "Chuko" Diaz (Carlos Diaz Ramirez; WBO #3, WBA #9, WBC #28- all at 135; 26-1, 1 NC, 13 KOs)
- Both fighters weighed in at 134.
- Zepeda was down and badly hurt in the fourth round.
- In the fifth, Zepeda recovered and dropped Diaz with a paralyzing shot to the stomach. Diaz was counted out and actually vomited in the ring.

Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. (25-7-1, 20 KOs)

Cristian Mijares (WBC #5 at 130; 59-9-2, 27 KOs)
- Both fighters weighed in at 132.
- This was Vazquez' first bout since his TKO-11 loss to Juan Manuel Lopez on October 29, 2016.
- In round 3, Vazquez landed a crushing right that broke Mijares' nose and dropped him for the full ten-count.
- Mijares stated that this would be his last fight. Once one of boxing's best Pound-For-Pound, Mijares unified the WBC and WBA World super flyweight championships in 2008 and later held the IBF World junior bantamweight title. He was riding a 10-bout winning streak going into his bout with Vazquez.
