Editor's notes:
- #8 ranked Takuma Inoue vacated the OPBF super flyweight title to seek a shot at Marlon Tapales' WBO World bantamweight title. The WBO moved Inoue from their junior bantamweight rankings to their bantamweight rankings in their rankings as of August 15. IBHOF enshrinee Joe Koizumi has represented Inoue in negotiations with manager/promoter Rex Salud, Tapales' representative. On September 4, Inoue fought and won as a bantamweight and, according to BoxingScene.com and AsianBoxing.info, has secured an upcoming bout with Tapales.
- #9 ranked Paul Butler, a former IBF World bantamweight champion, failed to make weight for his June 4, 2016 WBO junior bantamweight title eliminator with Petchbarngborn Kokietgym and announced that he was returning to the bantamweight division.
