- Prieto weighed in at 129; Puente at 129 3/4.
- Prieto, who has now won his last nine bouts, five by knockout, won a 10-round, unanimous decision over Luis Eduardo Flores on October 11, 2014. Earlier in 2014, Flores had halted previously undefeated Miguel Berchelt in the first round.

- Mikhaylenko was in charge throughout the contest. Referee Ray Corona saved Perez from further punishment by stopping the bout. Under California rules, the bout is recorded as a KO victory for Mikhaylenko.
