That was questionable...I'm not sure if it was indefensible necessarily, but it's a stretch.marciano1952 wrote:Pat Russell 96-92 Corales over Castellanos

95-95 draw in the Keandre Gibson vs Alejandro Barrera fight
Gibson thankfully got the nod on the other 2 scorecards. It should've been Unanimous. He was the clear winner.

Re: Watching the Watchers: Keeping tabs on Officials
Though the fight was quite a few years ago at this point Astor reminded me of it in a thread on the Main section of the forum.
Raul Caiz Jr. and Tony Crebs definitely gave unforgivable scorecards in the Escandon-Tyson Cave fight.
Tyson Cave won that fight going away

add Jamie Garayua 77-75 Clark and Rosemary Gross 77-75 Clarkmarciano1952 wrote:Ken Bucher 79-73 Clark over Golub
Clear win for Golub in my opinion, with three bad cards, although 7-1 is downright atrocious. I think they were going to rematch but it fell through for some reason. Been some really bad judging in Toledo, with Clark's fellow Ohio fighter Robert Easter getting ludicrous 12-0 cards against Shafikov (from Eugene Grant and Jamie Garayua).
Actually Garayua was a judge in the Clark and Easter fights, so watch out for that homer in the future.

Re: Watching the Watchers: Keeping tabs on Officials
referee: Shawn Clark
In all my years of watching Boxing I've never seen a referee do what Clark did here. In the Jesse Hart vs Demond Nicholson fight. He rules a knockdown. Counted 1 thru 6...stopped the count to talk to Nicholson, then count 7 and 8...then stopped the count and just said "Get up, Get up" twice to Nicholson.
Absolutely unacceptable. It should've been 9, 10...YOU'RE OUT
There's no discussion to be had with a downed fighter. Either he gets up or he doesn't. Whether or not it looks like he COULD continue is irrelevant. This was flat out unacceptable, and I hope Clark was reprimanded intensely for his performance here. If he'd do this again, he has no business ever refereeing another bout...hell the fact that he'd need to be explained this in the first place means he probably should've never become a referee.

Laurence cole:
Telling jmm he was ahead if he elected not to continue due to headbutt cut... he was suapended for that
Burns v figueora is quite diagusting how he kept grabbing burns arm
Letting saldio get away with numetous low blows against lomachenko
Called slip knockdown in pac v barera
Cole is so bad i can only remember one fight i thiught he did an adequate job. That being maidana v broner

But of course she's already back in action which speaks volumes about the corruption that is at play in Nevada surrounding Clenelo.

Re: Watching the Watchers: Keeping tabs on Officials
I was about to mention this one. Glad somebody already had, I had it DVR'd from when I was on vacation, just watched it last night...absolutely despicable. Hamazaryan dropped the guy, hurt him multiple times, and won AT LEAST 6 of the 8 rounds.Cagiva9 wrote:https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6q785k -Thomas Mattice vs Zhora Hamazaryan (20-07-2018) Full Fight

Adalaide Byrd-118 to 110 for Canelo vs GGG
On fight night Canelo weighed 177 pound and GGG weighed 168.2. But Canelo says the fight for his 160 pound belt must be at 155 pounds. She should just give her belt to GGG now and move on.

Re: Watching the Watchers: Keeping tabs on Officials
Doug tucker...
Navarro 120 to 108 over mijares
Other judges had it correctly as mijares won a clear decision 117 to 111 and 115 to 113.
Tucker didnt give mijares a single round
Had jmmm winning 10 rounds against mab.... it was a close fight that maquez seemed to edge.
I think he retired though
...thank god

Quartey has been shafted a few times. I felt like he clearly beat Vernon Forrest.

Re: Watching the Watchers: Keeping tabs on Officials
I felt he definitely did too. As I recall I had it 97-92 Quartey. He had gotten knocked down in the fight I believe, but other than that, he controlled almost every round. This was really the only time I thought Quartey got screwed honestly. The De La Hoya fight was close, but I thought De La Hoya deserved it by a point due to his 12th round rally.Bertel1 wrote:________gilgamesh wrote:From the Ike Quartey vs Vernon Forrest fight (which I just added to the Controversial Fights section along with my score)

Ike was usually the lesser known fighter in the notable matchups. Not that it excuses been duped, just saying we have seen how that can turn out when the scores are tallied. Forrest wouldn't even touch gloves before the start of the first round for whatever reason.

I also felt like Marquez's win over Barrera was debatable. Judges had it scored like it wasnt even competitive. Adding Nady blows the clear knockdown while in perfect position to see Marquez get hit and go down?!
