Denis Inkin was born in Novosibirsk, Russia on January 7th, 1978. He had an extensive amateur career while serving in the Russian army as a Captain in the tank forces. His main accomplishments as an amateur were winning Gold Medals at the European Cadet Championhips in Patra, Greece as a light middleweight in 1994, the Military World Championships in San Antonio, Texas, USA as a middleweight in 1997 and the 2nd Military World Games in Zagreb, Croatia as a middleweight in 1999.

On Tuesday, July 22, CatBox Entertainment Boxing Promotions will be presenting a boxing card featuring 5 professional and 3 amateur bouts at the Remington Park in Oklahoma City. The main event of this card features super middleweight prospect George Tahdooahnippah whose pro boxing record is an impressive 12-0-1 with 11 victories coming by knockout. This young entertaining prospect is a member of the Comanche nation hence his nickname, "Comanche Boy". His ring entrances are always theatrical as he is accompanied by fellow Native Americans in full regalia, dancing to tribal drum beats.

On Wednesday, July 16 in Polanco, Distrito Federal, Mexico, two of Mexico's rising lower weight class stars faced off. The underdog, 22-year-old Oscar "Cebiche" Ibarra, dropping down from the bantamweight class where he is ranked #28 by the WBC, upset defending NABF flyweight champion Adrian Hernandez, stopping the previously undefeated "El Confesor" at 2:01 of the 6th round.

2008-07-05	Cordoba Wins; Interim Title Bout Clears Way for Caballero-Molitor
On Wednesday night in Panama City, Panama, highly ranked super bantamweight Ricardo "El Maestrito" Cordoba won a well-deserved 10-round, majority decision over fellow Panamanian Jose Arboleda. The victory earned Cordoba a second showdown with Thailand's Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, this time for the WBA's vacant interim super bantamweight title.

2008-06-30	Yodsanan, Saddam Kietyongyuth, Pramuansak, and Duangpetch Win in Thailand
It wasn't designated as a "World Cup" competition but two cards in Thailand last Friday, one in Pattaya and one in Ratchaburi, consisted of a combined 8 bouts, 6 of which featured Thai boxers against Filipino opponents. Among the Thai fighters involved were a former world champion, two other world ranked contenders, and one highly regarded prospect. The Filipino "invaders" were led by a former world title challenger and a national champion. The native sons emerged victorious in 5 of the 6 encounters.

This past Saturday night, at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee, WBC number one ranked contender Andre Berto faced number two ranked Miguel Angel "Miki" Rodriguez for the welterweight title vacated by the retirement of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. In the semi-final, undefeated WBC Continental Americas heavyweight champion Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola defended his title against unbeaten challenger Chazz "The Gentleman" Witherspoon.

2008-06-24	Abraham explosive in victory against overmatched Miranda.
Hollywood, FL - In 2006, Arthur Abraham and Edison Miranda was involved in a highly controversial fight in Germany, a fight where Abraham was able to retain his IBF middleweight title despite getting his jaw broken and with the help of numerous point deductions levied on the challenger. Miranda has since moved up to the 168 pound division, but due to demand, both fighters set out to settle the score at a catch weight of 166 pounds with no titles on the line. But this time, Abraham would win the fight with no controversy as he blew out Miranda in four rounds to remain undefeated 27 (22 Kos) - 0.

2008-06-23	Ward, Hearns stay Undefeated against game opponents.
Cayman Islands - Super Middleweight contender, Andre Ward continued his quest for a world title shot by defeating Jerson Ravelo and capturing the NABO title while improving his record to 16 (11 Kos) - 0. Ward had a lot on his mind Friday night as he left for the Cayman Islands just days after his daughter was born. Ward proceeded to fend of a challenge from the rugged Ravelo 18 (12 Kos) - 3 to stop the fight via TKO in the 8th round. Ward started the fight darting in and out trying to land jabs and power shots while keeping the bigger, more rugged Ravelo off balance. Ward continued to be a little wild in the ring, as his wild assault did create offensive opportunities, but also caused for some sloppy action with Ravelo slipping on the canvas five times.

2008-01-17	The Michigan Assassin Stanley Ketchel
Ketchel was born on September 14, 1886 to Polish immigrants in Grand Rapids Michigan. Ketchel had no amateur background but he was a street fighter and at the age of 14 had learned to survive by fighting on those streets. It has been said that at age17 he was passing by a boxing both at a fair when he was tossed a pair of gloves and was told if he lasted 3 rounds he would get a dollar in reward. Ketchel took the challenge and knocked the star of the show out with the first punch he landed on him. Ketchel took the money he had won at the fair and decided that fighting would be his only way out. Ketchel got a job at a local casino making $20 a week taking on all comers.

Unbeatable? Well, going into February 11, 1990 we all thought he was. Some opponents had taken him to the final bell and claimed moral victories like "Bonecrusher" Smith had done, but in doing so he lost every round. "Iron" Mike Tyson was on a 6 fight Knockout streak. He had just defeated Carl Williams via vicious KO in the first round. Going into the James "Buster" Douglas fight Tyson looked pretty much like the answer to the Louis-Ali debate. Most boxing fans thought Tyson was gong to roll over Douglas early. What we couldn`t have known though was that we were going to see one of the best performances ever that night.

2008 promises to be a very entertaining year in one of the sports most under-appreciated divisions, the bantamweights. Already, on January 10 in Osaka, Japan, WBC champion Hozumi Hasegawa (23-2, 7 KOs) and WBA champion Wladimir Sidorenko (21-0-2, 7 KOs) fought on the same card with Hasegawa out pointing WBC #1 contender and mandatory challenger Simone Maludrottu (26-2, 10 KOs) and Sidorenko out pointing WBA #4 ranked Nobuto Ikehara (27-2, 19 KOs). This is supposed to lead to a unification bout between the two champs but Sidorenko may have to face WBA #1 contender and official challenger Anselmo Moreno (21-1-1, 8 KOs). While unification should be of the highest priority, either bout, Hasegawa-Sidorenko or Sidorenko-Moreno, is certainly worth the price of admission.

2008-02-18	Street Certified Recap and Analysis
EliteXC: Street Certified gave us the weekend mixed martial arts fix that many fans needed. The event did produce one of the largest gates for EliteXC, and it looked to solidify EliteXC's presence in the Miami market. It provided some fantastic knockouts and great matchups, but it ultimately proved little as far as the potential of some of the better fighters within the promotion. Kimbo Slice continued his smart upbringing into MMA with a win over Tank Abbott. Antonio Silva narrowly defeated Ricco Rodriguez and showed some weaknesses in his game that lead many to believing he may not be all that he's cracked up to be. Let's dig deeper into both of those matchups and the rest of the card.

2008-02-04	Lesnar Had To Lose
This fight was pretty much a must-lose for Brock Lesnar. Why? Because if Brock were to win, then we would all say he that wasn?t thoroughly tested against the right competition. Then some MMA fans would probably lose a little respect for the sport, after watching an MMA-noob walk through a former champion with such ease. Lesnar?s loss keeps his credentials in check without hurting the integrity of the sport. Keep in mind, a victory over Frank Mir just isn?t enough to give an MMA newcomer the credit they desire. Regardless of how good Frank Mir really is, his perception is still that of a has-been who may have been the most unimpressive UFC heavy-weight of all time. For Brock to garner serious clout in the sport, he has to lose fights before he can win respect.

2008-01-23	Gabriel Gonzaga: a Post-Mortem
It was hard to draw too many conclusions from Gabriel Gonzaga's loss against Randy Couture. Who could have said how that fight would have turned out without that, very flukey, broken nose. Unfortunately for the former number one contender, his most recent loss was much more telling and Gonzaga would be right to be extremely down on himself after losing to a heavyweight on the fringes of the top ten. The more skilled fighter didn't win but did the better fighter?

At UFC 77, the UFC displayed their newest acquisition, Brock Lesnar. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher is the newest addition to their growing heavyweight division and is almost certain to be one of their most marketed fighters. Lesnar (1-0), coming off a dominating performance at K-1 Dynamite in June, had been rumored to be negotiating with the UFC since his MMA debut and finally a deal has been reached. Official figures on the contract are unavailable at this time and his debut will most likely take place on their card on Super Bowl weekend.
